Description

Kostaris complex is situated on the top of the hill of Goudi village. It is a stone built complex of three individual traditional houses, sharing a common yard and a flourishing garden, with its traditional oven, wine-press and a share swimming pool with a matchless view.

The houses were restored with traditional methods and their furniture and fittings remind us of the true Cypriot character of the houses of the past. These restored lodgings create a warm and characteristic atmosphere that will be imprinted deep in your memory.

The view from Kostaris Complex is panoramic and if you manage to let yourself free, you will immediately feel reinvigorated. You will be astonished by the impetuous change of the valley’s colours throughout the seasons of the year and additionally, by the magnificent spectacle of million radiant stars embracing you each night.

The Kostaris Complex is consisted by three, listed as traditional, houses, which combine in perfect harmony the Cypriot cultural and architectural identity, providing to the guests the comforts and conveniences of a modern, high-standard residence. The complex is one of the pioneer members of the Cyprus Agrotourism Company, an autonomous unit supported by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation.

The One bedroom House is consisted of a bedroom with a double bed, a lounge with a stone made traditional fireplace (a television set, 5.1 surround system with DVD player and satellite receiver are placed there) and double sofa bed. An open plan kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, oven, dinner and metal ware are provided) and a shower/wc. Storage heaters are placed in the bedroom and the lounge in order to keep the house warm in the winter time and large fans are also installed to keep it cool in the summer. Outside, the lovely terrace is completely covered with local varieties of grapes, which the visitor is welcome to cut and taste.

Goudi contains a mixture of modern and traditional houses. There are no tavernas or kiosks in Goudi but there are two supermarkets on the Polis road that are open from early in the morning until quite late in the evening, depending on the season. There are two coffee shops (kafenios),
one that has a sign outside the door and the other at the crossroads just as you enter Goudi but which has no sign. However, look closely
and you will see a few tables and chairs where you can sit under the grapevines and observe the rush hour traffic of the odd donkey or two!

Goudi rambles up a steep hill and is 75 metres above sea level, so from the top of the village you can catch a glimpse of the sea at Polis.
There are also fantastic views towards the Chrysochous valley and the villages south of Paphos forest.
If you feel in need of some action, the nearby Evretou Dam is ideal for fishing and the Tsada golf course is a short drive away. If it’s culture
or sightseeing you’re after, the church of Agii Anargyri and the sulphur springs are a few minutes’ drive down the road. In addition,
the popular resort of Polis Chrysochous is also a short drive away in the other direction along the Golden Valley.

Rumour has it that the village name of Goudi came about because its first inhabitant was called Goudis.

So, if it’s tranquillity and the slow pace of traditional village life that you’re after, as well as being in an ideal location to explore the beauty
of the surrounding area, Goudi is the village to choose.
